Subject: At Peace 1.0 [PLANET software]
THIS ARCHIVE CONTAINS: At Peace 1.0
The author of Text Press, StackPacker, Personal Bomb!, and Cloud Altitude
introduces two new applications, as well as two new updates...
The new applications:
* Informer - leave voice messages for your co-workers and/or roommates with
this fancy application. Includes voice synthesis, support for the new Speech
Manager, System 7 Savvy, System 6 compatible, and also makes your Macintosh
ring!
* At Peace - the utility which allows you to turn At Ease's sounds on and
off, as well as start At Ease without restarting, quit At Ease, and more!
The following two updated applications correct a minor bug in System 6's
MultiFinder that makes the splash screen appear behind other windows. The
fixed versions:
* Text Press 1.1a - a utility which converts TeachText documents between
editable (TEXT) and read-only (newspaper) formats. Useful to all Macintosh
users, especially developers.
* Cloud Altitude 3.0a - a dinky little program that calculates the altitude
and types of clouds for any day (even today).
* Look for:
* The Sound Studio - add sound effects to your video productions (not
associated with QuickTime).
* High quality e-mail for everyone.
* More to come...

attoClock 1.3.1
Tuesday, November 9, 1993
What it is
=-=-=-=-=-
attoClock is a very small application (7494 bytes) for System 7 that displays a
digital
clock in a small window. It has intentionally few features. It displays the hour
and
minute, respecting the time format you have set in your control panels. It
doesn't display
seconds or the date or ring chimes or display movies or pictures or animations.
Just the
time.
The motivation for creating attoClock was that I like having a clock on my
screen, but I
don't want to give up a lot of memory or disk space for the function. I could
use the
Alarm Clock desk accessory, but it has a larger window, and, if placed at the
bottom of
the screen, must be moved to access its extra functions. Also, I distrust the
extensions
and control panels that put a clock in the menu bar. Even with the best efforts
of the
authors, conflicts among complex extensions occur. A small application that
obeys Apple's
programming guidelines is the least obtrusive way to provide a simple function
like this.
To keep attoClock as small as possible, it supports System 7 (including 7.0.1
and 7.1 and
presumably future versions) only. It will silently quit if it is launched under
earlier
systems. The name is taken from the metric-system prefix atto-, which means one
quintillionth (10-18). That's very small, but it should not be confused with an
attaBoy,
which is a small word of praise.
Version 1.3.1
=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Removed the notification alerts when attoClock receives Apple Events that it
doesn't
understand. This was annoying at least one AppleScript developer.
attoClock will flash 12:00 AM if the year ever becomes earlier than its year of
release.
This condition is meant to warn you your clock has been reset or become
seriously wrong.
The version shown in the About box is now taken directly fromthe 'vers'
resource.

Greetings,
I would like to submit this program to the info-mac
archives. It is a color picture viewer for color Macintosh
machines. It is very similiar to Apple's PICTViewer with a couple
of minor additions:
- Multiple PICT files may be viewed
- If enough RAM is available picture will be
loaded and drawn else PICT spooling
- Looks for color palette info in PICT, if it
finds info it will build a color palette (using Palette
Mgr) and display PICT using color palette
- PICTs are automatically dithered if the depth of
monitor is less than the depth of PICT->pixmaps
- If you put the program into a folder with multiple
PICT files and select all the PICT files along with the
application and select "Open" from the Finder "File" menu
the application will attempt to open & display all of the
selected PICT files.
- Built in Scale popup menu (25% - 400%)
I would appreciate any comments.

Copes with all bit-depths, and multiple paintings of different depths.
Needs a 68020 Mac with system 6.0.5 upwards, 32 bit Quickdraw, + 1280K RAM

Hi,
I found that the copy of FrontierRuntime is still Ver. 1
so I upload the copy I got from syrinx.kgs.ukans.edu.
It is said in the Readme file that the CD-ROM distribution
need the written permission from Userland.
As for the authors of the shareware, there is a program
offered by Userland such that you can get the full version
for $99.
There are aslo many script files for all kind of scripting
tools in the same archive.
DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDAs
for people face too-many-user frustrationwho face too-many-user frustration, you
can
try those BBS in the Internet. Many of them get most of
the files from Info-Mac and UMich and update regularly.
One example is bbs.isca.uiowa.edu and its archive,
grind.isca.uiowa.edu.
On the other hand, more and more people get SL/IP or PPP
access which itself is great but relatively slow compared
with other type of connection, say, Ethernet or that
SuperHighway optical fiber. In turn, the SL/IP or PPP take
much more time to do a file transfer and these popular
ftp sites have less time slot for different people to
make connection. So, I suggests that if you have a account
oe even more on either a mainframe or workstation, and also
if the disk space quota is not too restricted, please try
to connect to these popular ftp sites from such account(s).
Then transfer the file down to your desktop. There are
two-fold of advantage. First, by doing so you free up
connection much much earlier and other people have more
chance to share these resources. Second, my own experience
shows that using the same SL/IP connection to do file
transfer by FTP client like Fetch, from a local machine
is always 20% to 50% faster than from a remote machine.
This is also the exact reason why people put mirror sites
cross Pacific and Atlantic.
Well I am very off the subject. I am sorry being in this way.

Liu

This is MacSpeccy 1.0, a ZX Spectrum emulator for the Apple Mac. It runs
acceptably on a IIci-class machine, in my experience. Although this
is no means the final version, give the author your support. Since the site
this resides on is extremely difficult to connect to, I'm forwarding this -

You've seen the Yanks get excited about Stop The Madness. Now the rest
of the Mac world, who grew up with the ZX Spectrum, can get excited, too.
And the ZX Spectrum has infinitely better games than the Apple II does.
There have been Spectrum emulators available for the PC, ST, Amiga,
Archimedes and unix machines for several years. However, this is the
FIRST Spectrum emulator for the Macintosh. And it's been worth waiting for.
Suddenly, the Mac has a vast installed base of arcade games. They're out
there. All you have to do is ftp them for use with this program.
Three - Knight Lore, Jet Pac, and Doomdark's Revenge - are included with
the emulator. You'll need to look at the sites where others are kept.

Passport Producer is Macintosh-based software for creating and delivering spectacular multimedia presentations. Producer's elegant Cue Sheet graphical interface provides the user with a simple and intuitive method of importing and combining several media types: QuickTime, animation, graphics, text, digital audio, CD audio, and MIDI.
Passport Producer brings power, functionality, and ease-of-use to the multimedia equation. Complex, multi-layered presentations can be created quickly and with a minimum of effort. Pre-existing files and presentations benefit greatly from Producer's high-quality audio and MIDI capabilities. Producer links to the most popular software packages used for creating content. Any software that saves files in the standard Macintosh file formats is accessible by Producer .
Fine-tuning a presentation is as easy as dragging or resizing Cues on the Cue Sheet. The Cue Sheet is bound to a rock-solid timeline, so worries about synchronization are no longer an issue. The timeline's resolution is variable down to one second and Cues can be placed with frame-accuracy. Producer supports all SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) time code formats for both internal and external synchronization.

Subject: [*] PCalc 1.0.2
Enclosed is a binhex file containing a submission for your archives.
It should replace pcalc-101.hqx all over the world...
PCalc is a neat simulation of a programmable scientific calculator.
Please note that it *requires* System 7.x.x.
If you use System 6.0.x or earlier, here is what you are missing:
Programmable functions via a simple mini language.
System 7.x.x savvy:
Can be controlled & programmed via Apple Events.
Balloon Help for every button, menu & dialog item.
Resolves Aliases.
32-bit clean.
Multifinder aware.
Large 16+3 digit display.
Hierarchical menu of user functions.
Includes many functions for converting between different weights and measures.
Quick, one click, conversion between decimal, hexadecimal and binary numbers.
AND, OR, NOT, XOR, ROL, ROR and other extra functions in hex and binary mode.
30 named user constants, 10 for each mode.
'Undo' of any action.
'Minimize' button to shrink the calculator when not in use.
Enhanced graphics when viewed on a 256 colour or 16 gray (or better) screen.
Colour graphics and help screens are stored in separate plug-in extensions.
Runs on any Mac with System 7.x.x or greater, with or without Color Quickdraw.
And of course it's freeware. If you only download one calculator this year,
give this a try...
Version 1.0.2 fixes some bugs that caused problems on colour macs, notably
those with 16 and 24-bit displays. Vast speed increases too on some 8-bit

other silent bug-fixes and support for the ',' key as a decimal separator.

(NOTE: This version fixes some elusive bus errors that didn't always cause
problems. I was finally able to track them down. If you ever complained of
Personal Log crashing when you record an entry, I found the source of the
problem. It was actually in a section of the code that was far removed from the
crash point. Please replace any previous version of Personal Log with this one.)
Personal Log v1.0.6
by Michael F. Kamprath
e-mail: kamprath@aol.com
Requirements: System 7.0 or greater.
Have you ever wanted to keep a diary? Do you need to document your actions?
Would you like to be able to easily take notes? Do you currently keep notes in
one, big, disorganized Word file?
If you answered yes to any of these, then Personal Log is for you. Personal Log
allows you to keep a collection of notes in a single, easy-to-use file. You can
password protect this file, search it's entries, and even "speak" the entries
(if you have Speech Manager" installed). Unlike other "note taking" programs,
Personal Log's interface is very simple and easy to use. Personal Log fully
supports System 7: Balloon Help is enabled in every menu, dialog, and window;
you may use Apple Script to control Personal Log; and the interface is in full
color (when available).
Personal Log is shareware; the fee is US$15. See the accompying manual for more
information.

[Moderators: This should go in /card]
Enclosed is a personal references stack I've been working on fairly
intermitently for the last couple of years. It allows you to keep a file of
the references pertinent to your work, to view them easily and to do
various searches on them. You can also print them all out, export them to
the clipboard, etc.
It doesn't yet handle the standard ACM references format (but it might one
day!).
It's easy to use, so I won't say much about that side of it. An example
file of references and cursory instructions are provided.
Version history.
version ? - version 1.4 Slow development, a few rewrites, that kind of
thing
version 1.5 You can now print out the results of searches
You can print the index
Automatic compaction of the stack
Most of the externals have been updated to their
latest versions.
version 1.5.1 First public version! - lots of tidying up.
You can now change the font of data fields

The following is a binhex file containing the hypercard stack program
PhilateLISTER version 1.5 and its documentation.
The PhilateLISTER is a program I wrote to help fellow stamps collectors
organize their collections. This new version will almost certainly be the
last release of the software as a "Stack." The next one will be compiled.
This version add a lot of new features and cleans up some of the problems
people had with the display.
PhilateLISTER 1.5 requires Hypercard version 2.1 or later or the Hypercard
Player. It uses all the "standard" fonts installed with system 7.1. If you
have display problems, they are most likely result from some of these fonts
having been trashed and you will need to reinstall them.
I hope you like it, and please send any comments or criticisms to:

Subject: PhoneBootDA 2.6.2
PhoneBook is a DA that manages your phone lists, dials numbers through the
Mac speaker or modem, times your phone calls, prints envelopes, and much
more. The dialing capability is the most extensive of any package out
there. The interface is the best and fastest around.
Version 2.6 is a complete overhaul, and is now fully with System 7.0,
32-bit memory, 68040 machines, and everything else I can think of. The
interface for printing envelopes is much cleaner, and it remembers which
file you saved last, and opens that one by default. Many bugs in the editor
have been fixed, and all maximum field lengths have been expanded. The memo
field now holds up to 512 characters and is bomb-proof.
2.6.2 fixes bugs that prevented the modem from dialing, and that prevented
command-keys from working properly in the edit window. There's also some
other minor fixes, so read the readme file if you've had problems with
2.6.1.

Subject: PhoneBook Plus 2.6.1
PhoneBook Plus is multi-featured program with many niceties for handling that
long list of names and addresses usually managed by a Rolodex, Hypercard, or
some other clumsy tool. It sports the slickest interface around, extensive
phone dialing features, envelope printing, and a robust phone call timer.
For those of you who never found the perfect phone program, this may be it!
PhoneBook Plus has all of the features the PhoneBook DA has, plus it can open
multiple files, import and export text files, print reports and display the
phone log.
Version 2.6: Many new features and bug fixes. PhoneBook Plus now contains
all the functions of PhoneBook DA plus everything else it used to do. It can
also open multiple phonebooks simultaneously and cut/copy/paste between them.
The Import interface has been improved. PhoneBook now remembers the last file
you had open and opens that one by default. Preferences are now stored in a
separate file in the System folder (separate from the phonebook) so if you
copy someone elseUs phonebook, you donUt lose your preferences. ThereUs a new
TRespect Local Area CodeU option that lets you specify that numbers in the
local area code shouldnUt be treated as long distance numbers. The reports
have been revamped, a lot of interface has been cleaned up, and there are a
few more key shortcuts. The interface for specifying Envelope Setup has been
greatly improved.
Version 2.6.1 Late bug fixes (these things NEVER pop up until you release itI)
Under System 7.0, if there is no preferences file, PhoneBook now looks for the
Main PhoneBook file in the System Folder instead of the Preferences folder.
Printing Envelopes with a return address now prints the return address you
enter, not the recipientUs address.

Phonebook Plus 1.0 allows you set the local area code, outside line

This demo version of ReportGen 2.0 is fully functional except that it does not
allow you to print or save your created reports. Viewing them on the screen
however should give you an idea as to what a simple, yet powerful tool this
utility is.
ReportGen is Mac software developed by a teacher in our district and is now
widely used throughout the province of British Columbia as a utility for
preparing anecdotal reports on student progress.
The program enables teachers to construct individual reports rapidly and effectively. The teacher generates a list of comments that will contain "smart pronouns"
The teacher can generate multiple comment lists and load them in as he/she
chooses. Our teachers generally create a set of comments for each reporting
period as the kinds of observations that one makes on a student change as the
year progresses.
The teacher begins a report by entering the student name and gender into a
template.
The teacher then loads in the desired comment file and double clicks on the
desired comments.
The placement of either the pronoun or the student's real name will change
depending on the placement of the sentence in the paragraph. This placement
of comments will allow for the generation of smooth sounding paragraphs with
the student's name or the pronoun (he/she or him/her) being placed at
appropriate intervals.
The comments and observations are "double clicked" from the report generator
and placed into a report window which is a full text editor so teachers can
edit and add comments on the fly that may not be part of their set comment
list.
The interface is simple and follows the complete Mac guidelines. One comment
about the software is that it has been called the "MacWrite of report
generators". It will run on as little as a 512ke Macintosh and one 800k disk
that includes system 6.02 with ImageWriter Print drivers and limited fonts.
What we have found in our district is that it has been a "hook" to getting
more teachers using the technology.

The following is a program that I wrote to simulate distance, rate,
time, gravity type physics problems. Initial distances and velocities can
be changed and a variety of results are calculated.
The program is well suited for high school students that are
curious about the effects of gravity and I hope that Soaring Von finds his

The program is compressed with Compact Pro. It is also Shareware
